A Message from the Wardens
Almighty God, whose blessed son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan: Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Dear Members and Friends of the Congregation of Saint Saviour,
During Lent we have some great opportunities to deepen our understanding of the faith of the church and consider our own spiritual state and growth. On Sundays through March 18, Canon Malloy is offering Lenten Adult Formation classes. Open to all, and especially appropriate for those wishing to be baptized or confirmed at the Easter Vigil this year, this 5-session class covers the basics of the Christian faith as received through the Anglican tradition. The first session took place on February 18 and provided a moving opportunity for “established” members to meet and share with those who will be baptized or confirmed. The remaining sessions will take place in a chapel of the Cathedral. Again, a light lunch will be available.

Made in God’s Image: Female Imagery of God in Christian Worship, sponsored by the Congregation of Saint Saviour
On Thursday evening March 15 come enjoy an intimate roundtable presentation and discussion with Dr. Elizabeth Ursic, author of the book Women, Ritual, and Power: Placing Female Imagery of God in Christian Worship (SUNY Press, 2014). Dr. Ursic will share insights and themes from her research with Christian communities that highlight female imagery of God in their worship, and comment on the importance of the statue Christa permanently installed here at the Cathedral. She will also discuss the function of creativity and imagination in spiritual development. A light snack will be available from 6:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7:00 in Cathedral House.
Elizabeth Ursic, PhD is a professor of Religious Studies with a specialty in gender, art, and theology. She is Co-chair of the Women’s Caucus at the American Academy of Religion. Bible Study led by Dr. Jon Aceto, continues through Lent. During the inspection work in the nave this lively discussion group will meet in St. Martin’s Chapel at 10:10. All are welcome to come and share their thinking on the lectionary of the day.
A Stewardship THANK YOU Brunch, Sunday, March 4 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM in Cathedral House
We are proud to note that so far this year our pledges have risen more than 16% over the whole of 2017. In a spirit of appreciation to those who made this happen we are inviting people who pledged and people who haven’t yet pledged to a lovely brunch “between the services.” We’ve heard rumors that mimosas will be available! So if you have made a formal pledge, come and enjoy. If you haven’t, come, share a bite and consider filling out a pledge card for 2018 over bagels, pastry and coffee.
Cathedral Community Cares February Collection continues
Our collection of new or gently used business attire clothing and jeans for men and women continues. Thank you all who have donated so far. Please continue to leave donations on the table next to the coffee set-up and volunteers will bring the items to CCC.
All the best,
Tim Dwyer and Marsha Ra
