The Congregation of Saint Saviour
& Cathedral Community Cares
The Congregation has been supporting CCC in various ways since its programs began in the 1980’s. In fact, it was members of the worshipping community who started the soup kitchen, a men’s shelter and a clothing closet. This Christmas season St. Saviour’s members helped CCC in numerous ways.
Many members either brought or shipped boxes full of unwrapped presents to CCC’s offices, where volunteers hand sorted the toys and packed them to ensure that children and their families could receive gifts with social distancing protocols in place — no mean feat! We appreciate all the work and care that went into this unprecedented effort at outreach!!
To prepare take out meals for its Christmas Dinner, CCC asked people to bring cooked hams, pies, turkeys, chickens, cookies, yams, potatoes, etc. for drop off on Sunday, December 20th. Saint Saviour members not only contributed food in droves, but a few lucky members also volunteered. We are so thankful to all those who helped.
Bibles
We were also blessed with the chance to provide CCC with much-requested Bibles. We bought 192 beautiful, easy-to-read and durable editions of The Message Bible. This gift so moved one recipient that he insisted on finding one of our volunteers to shake his hand in gratitude. The gratitude is all ours, CCC!! Thanks for all you do!
