‘‘Homecoming Party’ ; ‘30th Anniversary Celebration| Fall Holy Cross Retreat w/Brother Ephrem, UN Sunday, Other Dates to Remember| Sunday Programs: 10:30am Worship Service - In-Person and Online, 4:00pm Evensong | Weekday Programs: M-S Morning and Evening Prayer (Zoom)

Canon Lee

I hope you can come this Sunday to our first real Homecoming in three years. We will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the incorporation of the Congregation. There will be a catered picnic lunch outside on the Cathedral Close after the morning service. (In the event of rain, the lunch will be held inside the Cathedral.)

Additionally, the Cathedral is hosting the Vergers' Conference this weekend. So if you come to church on Sunday, you will see about one hundred vergers from churches across the country in procession during the liturgy. The Bishop of New York will preach and preside, and the Cathedral Chorale will be singing, in addition to the Cathedral Choir. All have been invited to our picnic lunch, so it should be a wonderful time.

Please note that the Cathedral will be offering a special Evensong on Wednesday, October 19 at 6:30 PM in commemoration of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. I commend to your reading a moving reflection on the Queen as a servant of God written by the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.

Finally, I am happy to announce that the Rev. Paul Daniels, former assisting priest here at the Cathedral, has been called as the rector of St. Mary in Palms, in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. His first Sunday was September 4, and you can watch a video of the service on the church's Facebook page.

A Message from the Wardens

Senior Warden Marsha Ra on "Considering pain"

Welcome Home! As we begin our program year, The Congregation of Saint Saviour is celebrating our 30th anniversary as a parish within the Diocese of New York. Weather permitting, we will gather on the lawn outside of Cathedral House after the 10:30 Eucharist, to eat, drink and make merry. We are so blessed to gather week after week in our beautiful Cathedral to worship God together, inspired and strengthened by the Cathedral choirs, the organists and the preachers. Over the years the congregation has become involved in many wonderful projects. We have served in the Cathedral’s amazing liturgy. We have supported Cathedral Community Cares, we have supported the Schola Cantorum. Some have joined the volunteer choir. Since returning from the lockdown caused by the pandemic, we have concentrated on offering hospitality to visitors and to each other. There is so much we can do, but the most important activity is to worship God together week after week and to strengthen our relationships with one another and with the Cathedral, being moved through these activities to live lives of purpose and to be “repairers of the breach.” Please join us Sunday across from Cathedral House to celebrate our 30 years as a community.

Updated COVID Policy

Given current conditions in New York City and nationwide, the Cathedral will end our vaccination mandate for visitors and guests as of Thursday, September 1, 2022. While this change reflects a positive trend towards an end to the pandemic, we remain mindful that COVID-19 is still a very real presence in our community and around the world.

Although the Cathedral is no longer checking for proof of vaccination for COVID, all visitors to the Cathedral are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated. Masks remain required for all visitors over age 2 inside the Cathedral, even if fully vaccinated.
