Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer and that means life on the Cathedral Close shifts to a slower pace. The diocesan and cathedral offices will close at 1:00 PM every Friday for the next three months. In the Congregation, our programming will take a summer break.
However, there is still work to be done. The audit committee has begun meeting to complete the 2021 audit. We will be cleaning out the Congregation's storage closet in the Cathedral to make room for our expanding hospitality ministry. For our hospitality ministry, the Congregation has recently bought new coffee makers, and the Vestry is discussing other ways of providing refreshment and welcome during the hot summer season for all who visit and worship with us on Sundays.
As I did last summer, I hope to volunteer again at the food pantry of Cathedral Community Cares. I invite any who are interested to join me and the faithful Congregation members who volunteer regularly.
Finally, I will be discussing with the Vestry ideas for new programming and mission opportunities this fall that will further the Congregation's mission:
“To build and nurture an active Christian community; to support the mission of the Cathedral; to offer opportunities for exploration and expressing spirituality; affirming the diversities that exist among us; above all, through worship, service and example, to witness to Christ’s healing and reconciling love to neighbors, pilgrims and visitors."
A Message from the Wardens
SCC Corner | Pentecost & Spiritual Gifts - Join us at Coffee Hour to learn how you can give of your time and talents
1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.3Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
This Pentecost, the SCC (Stewardship & Communications Committee) focuses on spiritual gifts – the sharing of our time and talents. The readings appointed for this Sunday remind us of the presence of the Spirit within us and the diversity of gifts bestowed upon the Church, and bringing the love of Christ to others by our gifts of time and talent is the foundation of discipleship and meaningful stewardship.
This Sunday, we welcome all to join members of the SCC for a Spirit-filled coffee hour with a wonderful array of refreshments and baked goods. Members of the SCC will be on hand to discuss how giving of our time and talent helps us grow in our faith and the many ways to serve at the Cathedral. Some examples:
· Volunteer To Serve At Coffee Hour
· Volunteer To Serve On A Committee
· Volunteer To Serve In A Liturgical Capacity (Usher, Acoylte, Lector, Altar Guild, etc.)
· Volunteer During The Week At CCC (Cathedral Community Cares) In The Clothing Closet Or Pantry
· Volunteer To Help CCC To Make Sandwiches On Sunday Mornings
When we make room for the Holy Spirit, how exciting are the possibilities of what God can do through us!
See you Sunday!

HUMANITARIAN RELIEF FOR UKRAINE
Episcopal Relief & Development is supporting Action by Churches Together (ACT Alliance) as it provides critical assistance to support people affected by violence in Ukraine. Working through ACT member Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA) and other local organizations, ACT Alliance is providing emergency assistance such as food, shelter, water and basic supplies to refugees and people displaced within Ukraine. Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund will help the organization and its partners continue to provide assistance to people displaced by the crisis in Ukraine.
