Charpentier's Te Deum kicks off this festive and inspiring concert. Joel Thompson’s riveting Seven Last Words of the Unarmed and David Hurd’s When Night Fell address deep issues of our time. A medley of Asian composers will include Chen Yi, with our choir singing in Chinese! Jamet Pittman will lead us all in singing “This Little Light of Mine” after J.S. Bach’s timeless setting of Dona Nobis Pacem from his Mass in B Minor. Join us as we ring in the New Year of 2022 with optimism!

The Concert for Peace, an NYC tradition founded at the Cathedral by Leonard Bernstein in 1984, is the perfect way to observe New Year’s Eve music of inspiration and social conscience.

The Cathedral gratefully acknowledges the Mount Sinai Health System and its hospitals Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West for its generous sponsorship of the 2021 New Year's Eve Concert for Peace.
