In this eight-week course, we will take a deep-dive into the various sermons, essays, and meditations of Howard Thurman's, guided by the questions: "What is 'religious experience'?" and "What has religious experience to do with political transformation?"
By taking up Thurman's various intellectual influences together with contemporary thinkers and issues, we will develop a working knowledge of Thurman's sensibilities in order to explore how his corpus might help us think through and respond to questions of antiblack violence, gender and sexuality, economic stratification, the work of the Church, and the movement of the Spirit of God in our lives.
(Note: All materials for this eight-week session will be provided free of charge.
